When hunting season approaches most hunters become restless. Every hunter will want the next hunt to be better than the last one. They therefore will try to use the best techniques that will ensure they do not come back home empty handed but instead come back with a large kill. The best technique has however been a major point of discussion. Some prefer being high on tree stands like summit treestands while others would rather just go old school and do a ground blind. There are however factors to consider before deciding on which technique you should use in the next hunt.

Scent plays a big role when it comes to hunting. You need to avoid being detected by the prey. So a good technique should help reduce the chances of your scent being caught. A tree stand does exactly this. Because you stay higher from the ground where the prey is the scent is carried away by the wind. At the same time movements, even the slightest ones, can spoke the animals and make them to run away. Hunting blinds makes any movement a risk for scaring the prey. Tree stands thereby give you the best shot of catching the prey unaware.

Visibility is also very important. You need to be able to see a great distance from where you are. When you are up high on a tree stand the visibility improves. This is due to the fact that you get yourself away from the dense thickets of the forests undergrowth. This longer range in visibility comes in handy because it will give the hunter more time to get ready and make the perfect kill shot.

Safety is also one big consideration when you go hunting. The blaze orange is more visible when you sit high away from the bushes. The hunters shot from the stands will mostly be downward towards the ground. This means that the bullets or the arrows get lodged in the ground when they miss or go through the prey. This makes the tree stands ideal for hunting near populated areas such farms.

So when you pack up for the next hunt, think carefully about what you intended to bring to the hunt. If you decide to go for the tree stands such as the deer stands ensure that you go for the best quality that will be light enough to carry for longer distances and at the same time they should be easy to set up.
